Photograph is of a birthing chair, whittled from wattle (Say that a few times really quickly) in the 1850’s. Now with the Portland Historical Society.
This image was created as part of the the Virtual Arboretum Project Portland (VAPPortland). This project investigates sustainability, the environment and social history in relation to trees and green spaces, as a methodology for creating husbandry of place.
